APW Dollars for Scholars® needs you!
APW Dollars for Scholars is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers interested in providing financial assistance to local high school students pursuing higher education. All funds raised in the community by the organization are awarded to graduating seniors.
APW Dollars for Scholars is one of many Dollars for Scholars chapters throughout the nation, forming in 1985. The APW chapter has operated for 39 years. We have 6 active members and others who volunteer when they can. We have some long-term active members who are looking to move on to other ventures. Since 1985, 868 students have been awarded over $426,000 in scholarships for higher education.
Students as well as adult volunteers are involved in fund-raising activities. We currently do 2-3 major fund-raising efforts during the year and are open to new and exciting ideas.
APW Dollars for Scholars recipients are selected based on academic achievement and participation in school and community activities. Applications are evaluated by a committee of volunteers. The number of awards given is determined by the amount of funds available each year.
The committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM from August through June. Any, and all, who would like to volunteer their time for a good community cause are welcome and needed. If we as a group are unable to recruit new members our chapter will have to disband and what is left of the money we have raised will be turned over to Scholarship America for the national chapter to award and MAY NOT benefit APW Seniors.
Please help keep our local chapter helping APW graduates pursue their goals of higher education by contacting Kristina Brouse at (315) 625-7637 or apwdollarsforscholars@gmail.com. We really need your help and look forward to answering questions you may have to help you feel ready to get involved.
